Webiator

One is often faced with the question of whether one should have one's written word translated into several languages in order to increase the circle of potential readers. But up to now this was a big undertaking, which was connected with high costs and a lot of effort. Not any more! Because already today artificial intelligence can be used for it and that economically and lightning fast. In this article you will learn more about the big AI experiment here at Webiator and how you can easily use the Drupal CMS and the Deepl translator yourself.

The need for translations is ubiquitous

The world is a global village. And so it is not only private bloggers and influencers, but also companies of all sizes who are constantly faced with the challenge of having to translate texts. Some do it themselves, others commission special service providers. But depending upon specialist area and language it can become a very expensive venture - and often without good final result.

Wouldn't it be great if there was someone who understands your industry, knows all the vocabulary, never makes grammar or spelling mistakes and is cheap? That's exactly what we have!

Artificial intelligence as a good alternative

We live in an exciting time in which machines are able to actively support us. They do not "think" as some fear, but access a huge amount of data and process it with sophisticated algorithms. The great thing about it is that with every action the machine gets better and better. Theoretically, at some point it becomes so good that it no longer makes any mistakes and is perfect. However, we are not there yet and therefore everything that follows should be treated with caution.

We at Webiator have decided to make it easier for you to evaluate the new technologies and have started an experiment.

The big AI experiment

With the launch of this blog, we will have all German texts translated from AI into English. We will not make any manual improvements or correct any errors. So you can experience the process (and hopefully the learning progress) first hand.

Dream team: Drupal & DeepL

Those who know us know that we are big Drupal fans and supporters. With over 10 years of experience and over 300 completed projects, Drupal is one of our greatest expertise. So it's no wonder that this website also relies on Drupal 8 under the hood. It serves as a platform for our blog articles and their creation.

At the same time we have also been flirting with the Cologne-based company DeepL GmbH for almost 10 years. Since 2017 the DeepL translator can be used free of charge. Just try it out. It's fascinating how well the translator works. You will love him, I promise!
For about a year now, developers have also been able to benefit from it and integrate the service on their websites. For this you need the paid Pro Version.

But how do you bring both systems together? Quite simple: First you need the Pro version of DeepL. Then you install the Translation Management Tool module on your Drupal system. This module allows you to manage translation jobs from the backend. You can give texts to be translated to registered users, to freelance translators, to companies or even to artificial intelligence. And this is exactly what we want to do. To achieve this, we also need the TMGMT Translator DeepL module, which links DeepL's service to the Translation Management Tool. Now we can translate and publish our blog articles with just a few mouse clicks.
